How to get to Elba Island
- For those arriving by plane:
Elba Island is connected to the mainland by a few flights throughout the year, operated by a foreign airline. The airports served are Florence, Pisa, Milan and Rome (I). The airport is located in La Pila, approximately 4 km from our hotel.
Portoferraio, the island’s main town, is connected daily to Piombino Marittima by Blu Navy, Moby Lines and Toremar ferries. During the summer season, there is approximately one crossing every half hour.
- For those arriving by train:
The station for the ferry is Piombino Marittima (for train timetables, visit www.trenitalia.com - For those arriving by coach: Arzillibus offers a luxury coach service from Milan and Grosseto, stopping at Piombino Marittima
- For those arriving by car: booking is strongly recommended, especially at weekends and during peak periods. The crossing takes approximately 60–70 minutes.
The Toremar company also serves Rio Marina: the sea crossing is shorter and cheaper, but the road to Marina di Campo is rather winding and the journey takes at least 20 minutes longer.
Passengers without vehicles also have access to a fast connection via the Toremar hydrofoil, which reaches the port of Portoferraio in around 40 minutes.
